Wood type: Ambrosia maple. Yes this does kinda look like poplar but rest assured it is definitely maple. Red maple (Acer rubrum) to be specific, harvested here locally in PA. Because this is Ambrosia maple worm holes are to be expected and not considered a defect. Please take a good look at the pictures.
