Recently we were lucky enough to come across and buy a large stock pile of Madagascar rosewood. As you might know Madagascar rosewood is a general name given to several species of Dalberigia endemic to the island of Madagascar. We know the far majority of what we bought is D. baronii. However we are certain that there are other varieties mixed in. So we are just referring to all as Madagascar rosewood. All the material acquired was brought into the US several decades ago, pre ban. You may notice on some fingerboards one side is considerably darker than the other face. This is because the fingerboards were recently cut from fingerboard billets. So the brighter face is the newer cut from inside the billet.
